Designing a passionate life includes embracing everything that comes your way. It's been my experience that to live a passionate life means to ride the waves of life as they come and go. Life is really like a series of waves, some are high and lots of fun and some are low and now so fun. You will experience a full spectrum of thoughts with these waves. The trick is to ride these waves as centered and present as possible and not take up residence in any stressful thoughts you experience during the low times.
Noticing stressful thoughts as they occur is the first step to working through them. Our thoughts are indicators of our overall well being. However, I also know that taking up residence in a stressful thought, can drain your energy, cause you to freeze and as a result take no action and stay stuck. They can also cause you to spiral into very stressful emotions.
My own personal goal is to really get in touch with stressful thoughts as they occur and work through them quickly and eliminate them. I don't want to live with stressful thoughts for days and days and hope that time will help them fade. Time usually buries them, not help them to fade.
Some of the tools that I use to help eliminate stressful thoughts include: The Sedona Method, The Work by Byron Katie and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). All are great tools to use on a daily basis when little things come up. Noticing and addressing the first glimmer of a stressful thought helps to stop the escalation into an out of control emotional state, which is much harder to work through.
With focus and practice, you can notice stressful thoughts as they arise, deal with them and then focus your attention on thoughts that are not stressful. This doesn't mean you deny reality, it means that you plan and handle situations as they arise rather than make up stories about what might occur. Life is made up of the thoughts you think about, why not choose the thoughts that are not stressful? Start living passionately today. Sign up my free PDD report.
